An Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) is a bulge or swelling in the aorta, the main blood vessel that runs from the heart down through the chest and abdomen. Screening is a way of checking for this swelling. The NHS AAA Screening Programme is available to all men over 65 in England. InHealth delivers both the North London and South London AAA Screening Programme. More information about the national programme can be found here.
We offer routine screening to all men turning 65, or older, surveillance screening (which monitors the growth of a small aneurysm) and for men who are found to have a large aneurysm we offer safe onward referral to a vascular surgeon to consider treatment options.
The North London Programme covers the following areas: Camden, Enfield, Haringey, Islington, Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster, Havering, Barking and Dagenham, Waltham Forest, Redbridge, Newham, Tower Hamlets, City and Hackney.
The South London Programme covers the following areas: London Boroughs of Richmond, Kingston-upon-Thames, Wandsworth, Croydon, Sutton, Merton, Lambeth, Greenwich, Bexley, Southwark, Lewisham and East Surrey (Mole Valley, Tandridge, Redhill and Reigate).
We deliver the service from over 60 community locations in London and East Surrey. Men who enter the North or South London AAA Screening Programmes will have increased accessibility across the region regardless of their location.
InHealth provides an integrated pathway with consistent high-quality service from invitation to onward referral where necessary to key vascular services.
We continually invest in emerging technology and all our AAA Screening sites are equipped with brand new Ultrasound equipment which adheres to the NHS quality assurance guidelines and service specifications for the programme.
We have extensive experience in delivering geographically based screening programmes across the UK including 3 National Breast Screening Programmes and Diabetic Eye Screening across Dorset, East Anglia, Essex, Hampshire, London & Portsmouth. We support the National Bowel Cancer Screening Service. This experience serves to aid in the safe delivery of AAA screening services across the single larger geographic area of London and East Surrey.
